Addiction Interaction Disorder occurs when a person experiences more than one addiction—and those addictions influence, reinforce, or intensify each other. This can include combinations of substance use (alcohol, drugs) and behavioral addictions (gambling, sex, gaming, spending, etc.).
Because these addictions interact, treating only one often isn’t enough. They can overlap in the brain’s reward and impulse-control systems, create hidden triggers, and make relapse more likely if the full pattern isn’t recognized.
